Fallow deer are native to Mediterranean Europe and Southwest Asia. The first written reference about the introduction of a fallow deer to Czech lands dates back to 1465. The male is 42" tall and weighs approximately 180 lbs. The female is about 36" at the shoulder and weighs about 100 lbs. Hair color varies from almost white to dark brown. Bucks carry large palmated antlers, which they shed in late spring. The rut takes place in October. Fawns are born in June of the following year.
